About CivicWire

Voters deserve to know who
is working for them.

CivicWire is an independent, non-partisan accountability platform tracking city councillors across 20 Canadian municipalities ahead of the 2026 BC and Ontario elections.

Why we built this

Richmond, BC had 24% voter turnout in its last municipal election. That is not apathy — it is information poverty. Council meetings produce 80-page PDFs. Local newsrooms have closed or cut staff. Campaign promises are made and quietly forgotten.

CivicWire closes that gap. We ingest official council minutes, extract every vote and commitment using AI, and publish structured accountability scores — updated continuously, sourced to the page, in English and Simplified Chinese.

Every data point links to its source document. Every score follows a published methodology. Nothing is published without a verifiable source.

Data principles

Official sources only

All data comes from official council minutes, city websites, and public filings — never agenda documents or unverified materials.

Every claim is sourced

Every score, vote, and promise status links to its source document. No unsourced claims are ever published.

Human review before publication

All AI-extracted data is spot-checked by a human editor before it appears on the site.

Confidence rating published

Every score shows a confidence percentage based on available data. Sparse datasets are flagged, not hidden.

Scores are editorial opinion

CivicWire scores are analytical estimates based on public records — not statements of fact. We publish our methodology so anyone can verify our reasoning.
